Reality Star Arkansas Mo Charged With Bank Fraud

Arkansas Mo“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” cast member Arkansas Mo — real name Maurice Fayne — was arrested and charged with federal bank fraud charges stemming from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Fayne allegedly spent desperately needed money for American small businesses affected by COVID-19 on lavish, personal expenses.

What the DOJ Alleged?

Per the DOJ’s press release, Maurice Fayne, 37, submitted a PPP loan application seeking support for his company “Flame Trucking” on April 15, 2020. The application alleged the business had 107 employees and an average monthly payroll of $1,490,200.
In return, he received $2,045,800. The money was supposed to be used to “retain workers and maintain payroll or make mortgage interest payments, lease payments, and utility payments under the Paycheck Protection Program Rule.” However, Fayne was said to have spent the money on personal debts and expenses.

How He Allegedly Spent the Money?

The federal government claims over $1.5 million of the PPP funds were spent on leasing a luxury 2019 Rolls Royce Wraith, buying expensive jewelry like a Rolex Presidential watch, and a 5.73-carat diamond ring, and paying child support payments to the tune of $40,000.

My Thoughts?

I first want to say I am an avid viewer of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.” Over the years, I have heard tidbits about Arkansas Mo from the show and various bloggers. His credibility always seemed sketchy at best to me. I hope Karlie Redd, his wife, is doing well and not intertwined in this foolishness for her sake.

If the federal government’s claims are correct, then I hope they collect every penny. Defrauding the federal government is a huge no-no. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make an example of Mr. Fayne. Small businesses are in desperate need of financial support during this difficult time. People should not be using the money to live an extravagant lifestyle or flex like they have wealth. Don’t take short-cuts. Make the right decisions and build your wealth legitimately in 2020.
