Simone Biles has done it again! Is there anything this young, talented gymnast can’t do in gymnastics? It is an absolute pleasure to watch her make history as she continues to raise the bar.
Biles’ Rise To Fame
Before the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Simone Biles was winning awards and titles ( e.g., 2015 National Championship and 2016 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships).
However, the world took notice when she performed during the summer Olympics. In utter amazement, we watched her remarkable athletic ability on vault, floor, and balance beam. She walked away with five medals: four gold and one bronze. Biles set an American record for most gold medals in women’s gymnastics at a single Olympic game.
The Road to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
There is no doubt Simone Biles will be the top gymnast at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Despite a small hiatus, her athletic ability is still shining bright.
During the 2019 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships, she continued to stun onlookers and make history. She is now the first woman to successfully execute a triple twisting-double somersault on floor exercise. And she is the first gymnast to land a double-twisting double somersault dismount off of the balance beam. If she performs these two skills at the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in October, they will be named after her.
Like most of you, we are just spectators. We may not fully understand the technicalities of gymnastics, but we know when we are witnessing a fantastic feat. It is truly an honor to see her fly through the air and continue to defy what the human body is capable of at 4’8″. She is truly a role model for little girls around the world.
Simone Biles, you are the GOAT (Greatest of All Time)! Best of luck during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Make us proud!
