Same Sex Marriage is Now Legal

On Friday, June 26, 2015, a historic and landmark decision by the Supreme Court in the United States was made.

The Supreme Court voted 5 – 4, legalizing same sex marriage nationwide.

In other words, same sex marriage in now legal in all 50 states, which bypasses some states’ laws who had bans against it.

The American public has opinion about same sex marriage has become increasingly favorable; however, not everyone is in agreement with today’s decision.

According to CNN, a few conservative justices spoke out about their disapproval for decision. Antonin Scalia remarked how the  Court “has descended from the discipline legal reasoning of John Marshall and Joseph Story to the mystical aphorisms of the fortune cookie”.
